Scrapping the Refrigerator...?!!!

Beware!
There needs to be a sign on my door-and it's not for Halloween!
I am FLYING
and anything not nailed down
is apt to get decluttered, cleaned and organized!
This morning...in so doing,
I "scrapbooked" the fridge!
Let me explain!
When my hubby stopped home to grab a bite to eat
I sat down to have a cup of coffee with him
and looked at this
the front of our fridge.
My first thought was
"when I go to Wilmington I need to get more magnetic photo frames"
(Wilmington, aka "town", is an hour + away...I didn't want to wait
nor did I want to spend any extra money (still paying for the new bed!)--
And then I had a lightbulb moment!
I grabbed everything off the front of the fridge.
I set the letter magnets to soak and headed for the craft room with the rest of the stuff.
Out came my Close To My Heart divided page protectors,
my scissors, my Cherry-O paper (discontinued, sadly)
and I went to work.
First I cut off the edge of the page protector that has the holes.
Then I cut the Cherry-O papers to make photo mats (4x6").
Then I set to "lightly" tacking down the photos and notes
(I wanted to be able to remove and replace them as time goes on-
hence the "lightly" tacking down...)
And, presto chango--
here's my FLYLADY'D /scrapbooked fridge front...

Magnets hold them on-
my photos and notes are protected from life in the kitchen
(spatters/spills/heat/grease)
and I can change it up as time goes by
or replace the page protectors as needed (cheap fix)!
The
"Brook Loves Sharon"
message?
that was something my husband put up eons ago...
and left for me to see---
he can be sweet-sometimes! lol!
Hope you like it!
Let me know (see!) if you try it!
Until next time, happy stamping and scrapping!

Growing list...

I am up early today
(saw the beautiful clear sky and the brilliant stars early...)
not because of the cat...
(who was a perfect gentleman to sleep with after we had a long talk..)
but an upset tummy
(if people tell you gall bladder surgery will solve all your tummy problems--
they lie.  I think my body wants mine back...too late now...)
Anyway,
today the cabinet leaves so that must be emptied
(not a big deal as the room is STILL CLEAN
and it's a matter of just unloading the stacked plastic drawers
and a few baskets...)
and then there's all the boxes of STUFF
that I moved out last week in order to organize the room
that must be sorted out.
I am actually looking forward to it.
Doing that Flylady thing will do that to you-
you clean up one little area...and it's addictive!
It feels soooo good you want to do more!
So as soon as hubby leaves for work I will get started on those projects.
Until then, I have blog hopped my list
and I want to try the
I want to try Dawn's
(might have to scroll down a post...)
Then I saw a SPECTACULAR SPOOKY
Halloween "banner" at
using the new CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge
(Theresa-we HAVE to go to Wilm and get black paper for all these projects we need to do!)
Then I want to take time to read more on this blog
http://www.isomcre8tions.blogspot.com/
I *love* Marie's work--
by far one of the best CTMH consultant sites I've seen
and her story is well worth reading, too.
Lots of things on an ever-growing list...
but I am learning:
15 minutes at a time
I can do anything
and if I don't feel well-and can't do anything...it's ok, too.
I can jump in where I am at and start again.
I'm not beating myself up over what isn't done-
and gee, I feel far better from less beatings! lol!
Hope whatever you do you have a fabulous Friday--and,
until next time, happy stamping and scrapping!

Room Reveal and Ribbon Corraling

It's late-but I got sidetracked into another cleaning and organizing project tonight-more at the end of this post about that!
Here's the before...again...

And, drumroll please...
here's the after...

yes, I see the thing on the floor--please ignore...
you don't want to know what it is!
And just to prove it didn't all just go into the closet...

Then...this afternoon, I tackled this...

The pretty cabinet you barely see in these photos will be leaving. Soon.
I got it from Theresa and it's beautiful
I love the video holders that hold my ribbon
but
it overwhelms my room. Completely.
It holds a lot of stuff...
and I can close doors but I've fallen out of love with it
so it's time to bless someone else with it.
So---what to do with the stuff that's in it?
Mainly-the ribbon.
Rather than just toss it into a box and deal with it later
I took the Flylady approach and DID IT NOW.
So all afternoon---into this evening I took these...

and these...
(playing cards are cheap, cheap, cheap and make great "spools" for ribbon!)

and ended up with these...

There are 6 small drawers (these stack) that will be their new home
(one drawer is EMPTY!!!)
I needed a divider --and thought paper towel rolls would be about the right size
but I needed them NOW--another lightbulb moment
(two in two days-gotta be a record-particularly since I got very little sleep last night!)
So I made a "tube" (aka box) out of cardstock! Works perfect!
I cut off all that icky tape they tack the ribbon down with and just secured the end with a straight pin.
My cards do slip down a bit but I am thinking some rubber matting in the bottom of the drawers will help  stop that. I can flip through them easily enough to find what I need
and each color family fits (now!) perfectly in it's own section!
I threw out an entire garbage bag full of ribbon spools!
These take up so much less space and the "standard size" is really nice!
This guy who looks so nice and innocent...

came to hang out with me while I worked.
My room gets a patch of sun in the late afternoon.
He was also trying to butter me up as he's in the doghouse
for waking me up very, very early---
and again later after hubby fed him and I had just fallen asleep.
So Momma was overtired, crabby and hurting all day...
but he's trying to be nice. Now...
we'll see where he-and hubby--are sleeping tonight! lol!
Time to go relax and read.
Until next time, happy stamping and scrapping!
Blessings,

Coffee Cup Card!

I know I don't have enough time for Blogger to
upload the card photos AND the drumroll please...
ROOM REDO! photos...
so for now...here's the COFFEE CUP CARD...

Isn't it cute?!
I "shopped my stash"
and used some of the CTMH (now retired)
Topstitch papers.
The "just for you" stamp is Stampin' Up
and
since I didn't have the SU "Kiss" stamp to do the lips on the top of the cup...
I had to improvise...
didjaknow...
you can EMBOSS LIPSTICK? ; )
You can!
I grabbed one I don't usually use
('cause I knew if this worked the way I thought it would-it would get relegated to the craft room supplies!)
slapped in on my lower lip
and then "kissed" my paper.
Covered it with clear embossing powder
(I figured it would look like lip gloss)
and hit it with the heat gun
(the heat killed any germs, right?!)
and PRESTO! A lipstick-mark on my lid!

I think i cut my insert for the gift card a little too narrow
but a card will attach to the upper half or 3/4 at least so they are usable.
I decided to tweak Lorri's design
and decorate the back as well...

so I made the "belly band" go around the back along with the ribbon trim
and added the elements for the lid as well.
It just looks a little more finished to me
and I like the feel of the crimped band on both sides.
It was really really nice
to finish dinner last night and pop into my CLEAN ROOM
and CREATE these cards!
I kept putting things away as I worked--
but found myself more than once
having to go back and get them out! lol!
Maybe I need to be a little less efficient
at least while I am working!
Stay tuned later today-I promise the room reveal pics.
It's not gorgeous--it's not perfect
but it's CLEAN for me
and that's all that counts!
For now, I need a real coffee cup refill
to get me going to work!
Until next time, happy stamping and scrapping!

Mosey-ing on by...

So-
I *did* get the room done yesterday
and even got a swim in...
--INSERT BIG SMILE HERE--
and then...
I made a mess making
THERESA'S BIRTHDAY CART...er, CARD!!!

It was 10:30 and my printer isn't working-so instead of a license plate
this will have to do....and, "FYI"--
if you try to hot clue label tape to something-
it will melt the letters right through! just so ya know...!

Is it not ADORABLE???!!!
It's a Golf Cart
that I found when I looked at the coffee cup tutorial
(that I never got made!) on Friday.
You can purchase your instructions here
just scroll down Lori's sidebar and you will see it.
I did tweak a few things...
and the roof is actually an envelope that
will hold the little card you see.
The inside of the cart needed a little something
so that's a small bouquet of flowers
sitting on the seat.
The "headlights" are two Close to My Heart crystal brads
and the present, candle, card and "awning"---
were all cut out using the new CTMH
Cricut cartridge!
I "propped up" the package and candle using the little box pop-up technique.
And...I have a confession...
I was soooooo tired when I was working on this
and I had a sip or two of my rum drink...
and I was trying to do the wheels....
well, instead of reading 4  -- 3/4" wheels
I read
4 3/4" wheels!
When I took them out of the Cricut
and saw how HUGE they were--
I had to laugh!
Monster truck size wheels for her golf cart!
lol!
I have to take that along to show her-
I love to hear Theresa laugh!
While Lori suggests using a GIFT CARD
for the roof
I opted for the envelope so I could tell Theresa
that she FINALLY has a bird book coming.
She is always asking me what this or that bird is
and it's a bit difficult
when I am here-
and she is there...
a brown bird...well, you get the picture!
So she has a Sibley's field guide coming her way...
For now, I have to go clean up that table
and put away a little bit of the other things I pulled out
before I go deliver the golf card-er, cart!
I promise a photo or two of the finished room
tomorrow.
Until next time,
happy stamping and scrapping!

The Closet: Before and After...

the disaster area --aka THE CLOSET
before...
My chief box inspector...
every time I emptied one-he had to check it out!

and, after a very HOT
 (had to shut the windows
turn the ac back on
and eat two Popsicles to cool down)
long stuck with it despite printer issues
(I like to print labels for my storage containers)
here's the AFTER...

and the doors actually CLOSE --lol!
The "jugs" on the two top shelves
hold my herbs--
they are recycled dog food containers but seal quite well
so I've never had a problem with my herbs losing their scent
or with moths (which can be attracted to the herbs I am told).
I had a mish-mash of other storage containers of a variety of sizes and shapes
and I have a whole stack of these...

They, too, seal well and are sturdy--
so slapping a label on them and storing stuff inside
gives me  little more consistency and freed up a bunch of boxes & storage space!

My printer, however, failed me.
It simply refused to feed the paper.
But--my stuff is  stored-that's all that matters!
And I still adore my over the door shoe holder
for my punches that I don't use all that often!
(I also did one for computer cords, phone chargers, etc.)
Now-
the rest of the room is a different story!
There's lots of odds and ends that came out of that closet
that need to be dealt with.
Most goes to a yard sale pile-
a few things to the attic
the trash went out as I pulled stuff out.
It won't take long--but needs to be done
and THEN I will be happy with my room-- for now.
There's still boxes in another room-
but those are for another day.
I still want to do the card
and the weather may cooperate for a boat ride after all!
More later-
until then, happy stamping and scrapping!
Blessings,
