Simple Sunday...Every Step You Take...

Since I am still Cricut-less
I am limited in the magic kingdom.
I am also scrounging the bottom of the barrell craft bag
for Pop-Dots!
(Theresa-we NEED to go to WILM
for Pop-Dots AND a "business meeting!")

Anyway...
this cute little stamp
has been sitting on my desk for sometime
and I knew I wanted to whip up some more
itsy-bitsy artsy-fartsy art pieces...
I used a honeycomb embossing folder
and CTMH paper so I could sand it
and expose the white core...
(the honeycomb pattern kinda gives a
"follow the yellow brick road" feel...! ; )
CTMH black cardstock
(I have TWO packages!)
and ribbon.
I of course pop-dotted the top white layer
and then the shoes as well.
Cute...

but it needed something...
wasn't sure what...
and of course I had put them all together...
when I pulled out my CTMH Distressed Backgrounds set
and put it to ink for the first time..
presto-chango...

I think it really made them pop!!!
I just hit the edges and since it's a distressed look anyway
didn't bother to mask...just stamped right over it...

I have several others I want to do...
they are so much fun!
Just 4"x4"
whatchyathink?
Would you purchase this
at a craft show?
A little something for that someone
you work with-just want to send a little
encouragement to? Girlfriend gift?
Let me know!

Until next time,
happy stamping and scrapping!
Blessings,

Simple Sunday...Fly me to the moon...

Nothing
seemed to go right yesterday afternoon
in my magic kingdom.

As a last resort,
I decided to try and play with
the new stamp that came in the mail.

All things considered,
not bad!

I wish the itty bitty sentiment below
Fly me to the moon
was a wee bit bigger---
it says
and let me play among the stars.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE...crescent moons!

Background paper is CTMH--
which means it has a white core--
so sanding those edges to give it a distressed look
(and help hide the fact that it may be a tad shy
of meeting the edge of the coaster chipboard base! ; )
I stamped in white Brilliance ink
and then restamped with Momento black
so I could color the girl and moon with Copics.
I used a Q-tip (too lazy to get up and get a dauber
(would have been too fat anyway...)
and covered the moon with Versamark ink
then with holographic embossing powder.
Added the CTMH blue ribbon bow.
It needed something on that left side still...
I didn't have any small star stamps--
but I did have the CTMH silver glitter tape!
Originally I was going to use the stars only
but the strip cut in a banner...well!
And, if you look closely, you'll find the stars were used, too!

Now the sad thing is...
the POP DOT QUEEN
is slap-dab out of POP DOTS.
This is serious.
Stand by to call 911 please.

Better go get my buns ready for church!

Until next time,
happy stamping and scrapping!
Blessings,
ps.
Spell checker has all the crafty
words highlighted! lol!
Do they have a spell check version
for crafters?!

Quick something for Saturday...

Been a busy, busy week---
the preschoolers LOVED their treats
particularly when I showed them
the owl held chocolate (m&m's)
AND
could be used as a finger puppet!
So that was well worth the effort.
Sadly,
the replacement Cricut
died shortly after cutting the pieces from them.
It came with bad blade-
and I had to replace that to get it work...
then, after finishing the treats
I was cutting flowers,
heard a loud "clunk"
and now it's cutting but not all the way through
the cardstock.
I've changed blades yet again,
set all things (blade and pressure) as high as they will go
and no luck.
And of course
Provocraft isn't open on Saturday.

So here I sit...
cutting project pieces by hand
when I have a $ 200 machine that could be doing it instead.
Sigh.

Whipped up this little goodie for
my hubby.

There are days the phone drives him crazy
and I was joking at lunch one day this week
about making him a spinner...
I used a 4"x4" coaster
covered in duct tape-
the CTMH  spinner template
I printed the selections on the computer
and printed them out-
covered the spinner with clear contact paper,
used an SU metal spinner hand and brad
and now he can spin to choose!
lol!
If nothing else-he'll get a smile out of it!

That's it for today.
I seem to be dead in the water again.

Until next time,
happy stamping and scrapping!
Blessings,

Stuff on Sunday...

Ok.
So yesterday I spent almost the entire day
in my CRAFT room
(someone at lunch last week thought I had called it something else entirely---
well, when crap happens-that's where I tend to hang out! Lol!
Guess I will follow my friend Theresa and start calling it
my ART STUDIO.

The end-of-the-year treats for the preschoolers
are all made, packaged and tagged...

for the 4's who are leaving us---caps included!

for the 2's and 3's who are moving up a year and staying
in our school...

And, in giving credit where credit is due, I cased the owl pillow box idea from

Lynn at The Queen's Scene
While hers were made with SU punches, I used my Cricut and the Close to My Heart
Art Philosophy Cartridge.
I cut all the pieces-then assembled using LOTS of low temp hot glue
to hold those front feather pieces on (scalloped banner pieces layered 4x).

Then I went to work on the teacher gifts.
Someone on the CTMH buy/sell board
sold me a box of 1,000 4" coasters.
WOW! That's a lot!
But I keep coming up with new ideas--
purse pads with post it notes and a small pen
and another FYI---the binding coils for a CINCH work
with the BIND IT ALL as well
(thank you to the nice shopper in Hobby Lobby who
shared she worked for a printer and thought they
were all standard--they seem to be!)

And, I had a lot of mishaps.
First I started taping outside pieces to the inside-
but caught myself before I got too far and was able to salvage
what I had done.
But then...
I *thought* I had flipped the cover(s) right to decorate the inside...
and when I went to punch the first one...
realized that I had not.
All 6...were wrong.
Unattach, cover up the goofed up stamping,
reattach.
So I got all of them put together finally
and then did the six tag cards to go with them.

I usually stamp and paper piece the shirt, pants and shoes-
but opted to color with my Copics instead
(FYI: SOME (not all) Copic colors will bleed
if you use our White Daisy...! And none of them
blend as well as when used on the papers
recommended by Copic.  Breathing.)
Then, wanting the front of the notepad to pop a little more
I covered the center stamped pieces with
SU's Crystal Effects.
I've had issues in the past with CTMH ink + CTMH Liquid Glass---
the LG has changed and/or caused the ink (even tho it's CTMH--to bleed
or change color completely.
I've never, on the other hand, had an issue
with CTMH ink and SU's Crystal Effects....
until yesterday.
I had carefully filled in the fronts of all 6-
secured them in a place that kitties could not go
until they dried.
I took them out earlier
and this is what I had---

a green mess!
Another deeeeeep breath.
Peeled them all off
(of course messed up a sun in the process so had to recut, restamp that part...)
and then discovered I am almost out of Pop Dots
(and, being in  purse, thought that would tear off too easily);
couldn't find my stash of Fun Foam
which would have been perfect substitute--
so I had to punch and layer about 4 pieces of cardstock
and stack them to put behind the stamped part
to get a little dimension in it.
They are done!
The tag cards are done.
Just need to package them.

On the tag card---that is a card on CTMH's
Artiste Cricut  Cartridge.
I wanted the front flap to stay closed
so I used what I call SU's slitty punch (discontinued, sadly)
and slipped it behind the front flap to see where to position it
and then just punched.
That little bit of tab helps the card stay shut.
And for those who are wondering--
I stamped then punched and punched and then stamped-
it worked ok either way!

Now I just need to clean up the disaster in there-
it seems if I put stuff away as I work,
then inevitably that's when things go wrong
and I have to pull it all out again for one card or whatever...
If I don't put it away as I go...then it's the disaster it is now!
Maybe a basket to just put it all in under the worktable
(might have to move the cat!)
to put it in as I go to put away later?

Gotta make a graduation card-
my "nephew" Matthew graduated from The Citadel
last week-end.
I am late, as usual.
That's what the child gets for calling me an "alien" !
(he was 4-5, we were talking about ALIASES and he asked
his mom if she knew I was an alien!)
Alien, no--late as usual---yep.

Until next time--
happy stamping and scrapping!
Blessings,

Just a teaser...

I cannot take credit for the Owl -- I cased that from an another blogger and will give credit when I do the update to this post.  In a rush--but these are so darn cute I had to post.  These will be for the 4 year old preschoolers---the other cards will say that they are flying up to a whole new class!
All pieces except wings I cut on the Cricut (and they could be, too-the punch was handier!)
Stamp set, papers by CTMH.  Big enough to hold a fun size bag of M&M's (no nuts!) if you mush them to one side and fold the extra packaging back on itself (aka--stuff it in there!)

Until next time,
happy stamping and scrapping!

Blessings,
